PBT 3D printing
PBT is an engineering polyester, a cousin of PET: it keeps its dimensions, barely absorbs moisture and resists oils, fuels and many solvents. It takes more heat than PETG and is a good electrical insulator, which is why it is used in many connectors, electrical housings and engine parts.

What it is good for
- Electrical housings and mounts
- Parts in contact with oil or fuel
- Engine bay parts
- Parts that must keep their size in humidity
When not to use it
- Flexible parts or parts taking hard impacts
- Years in full sun outdoors (use ASA)
PBT vs PA (nylon): Compared with nylon: less tough and less wear-resistant, but it hardly absorbs moisture, so it keeps its dimensions and properties better. See PA (nylon) →
