Glass fibre (GF) 3D printing

Glass fibre plastics (PA-GF, ABS-GF, PBT-GF) are stiffer, deform less with heat and hold their dimensions better than the base plastic. Compared with carbon fibre they handle impacts better, insulate electricity and usually cost less.

Bracket, bushing and housing printed in glass fibre plastic

What it is good for

  • Technical and electrical housings
  • Brackets and engine parts
  • Workshop jigs and fixtures
  • Parts that need stiffness and impact resistance

When not to use it

  • Weight-critical parts (heavier than carbon fibre)
  • Surfaces that must look glossy
  • Flexible parts

Glass fibre (GF) vs Carbon fibre (CF): Compared with carbon fibre: slightly less stiff and heavier, but tougher, insulating and cheaper. See Carbon fibre (CF) →
